Where’s Your Agency?
In my World Literature course, we continued reading texts that explore the Divine and the Human. One of our selections, the Bhagavad Gita, teaches that our desires cloud our path. When we are bound by craving, fear, or confusion, we often do nothing. And we tell ourselves this stillness is discipline.
When the Wilderness Becomes Desert
Transformation unfolds in the hardest seasons of silence.
The silence can beat down like desert heat. What was once just wandering in the uncertainty of life suddenly becomes a dry land with no clear path forward. Friends fall away, the noise quiets, even your own prayers feel thin. You are left with yourself, your longing, and the unknown ahead.
Let Me Be Honest
Let me be honest: I have days where I just need to know I’m not alone.
I have days where I need someone to remind me that I’m okay, even if I don’t feel it. Days when I need reassurance that there is another side to this wilderness, even if I can’t see it yet.
What is the Wilderness?
What is the Wilderness?
When I talk about “the wilderness,” I don’t mean a place on a map. I mean the seasons of life that feel uncharted, overwhelming, and uncertain. The wilderness is any space where the old path has disappeared, and the new one hasn’t shown itself yet.
When Life Feels Like the Wilderness: First Steps
There are seasons in life that feel like wilderness—unfamiliar, overwhelming, and full of uncertainty. Divorce, loss, illness, or major transitions can leave us standing at a crossroads, unsure which way to go. In those moments, the temptation is to search for the entire map: Where will this lead? How long will it last? What will my life look like on the other side?
Clarity vs. Confusion
There are times when our minds feel crowded with noise. Worries, decisions, “what-ifs,” and unfinished conversations all swirl together until it feels impossible to sort them out. When confusion takes over, it’s easy to feel stuck—unable to see what matters most or what to do next.
You Don’t Have to Walk Alone: The Power of Companionship in Hard Seasons
When life feels heavy, it’s easy to believe we should handle it all on our own. Many of us have been taught that strength means independence, or that asking for help is weakness. But the truth is, we were never meant to carry everything by ourselves.
Companionship—having someone walk beside you—doesn’t take away the pain or erase the challenge. What it does is lighten the load, create perspective, and remind you that you’re not alone.
